Child Protection Policy
Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy) · operated by USDD Networks · info@usddnetworks.co.uk
Purpose
To set out the procedures Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy) follows when child abuse, neglect, exploitation or significant harm is suspected, disclosed or witnessed.
Recognising Abuse
Staff are trained to recognise the four categories of abuse: physical, emotional, sexual and neglect — as well as contemporary risks including child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE), peer-on-peer abuse and online harm.
Responding to a Disclosure
- Listen calmly without leading questions.
- Reassure the child they have done the right thing.
- Do not promise confidentiality.
- Record exactly what was said, signed and dated.
- Report to the DSL the same day.
Referrals
The DSL will refer to the relevant Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and/or children's social care. In urgent cases police will be contacted immediately.
Allegations Against Staff
Allegations against staff, freelancers or volunteers are managed under the Safer Recruitment & Allegations Management procedure and referred to the LADO within one working day.
