Purpose
To ensure the health, safety and welfare of all USDD students, staff, freelancers, volunteers, visitors and members of the public affected by our activities.
General Arrangements
- All venues are visually inspected before each session.
- Floors are checked for cleanliness, grip and obstructions; mirrors and equipment for damage.
- Sound equipment is PAT-tested annually and cables are routed safely.
- Fire exits are identified and kept clear at all times.
- Staff:participant supervision ratios are determined by activity, age and risk assessment.
Outdoor Sessions
Outdoor classes are subject to a session-specific risk assessment including weather, ground conditions, public access and safeguarding considerations.
Events, Battles & Performances
Larger gatherings are subject to event-specific risk assessment, crowd management plan and on-site first aid provision.
Responsibilities
Ultimate responsibility for health & safety sits with USDD leadership. All staff have a duty to take reasonable care for themselves and others and to report hazards.

This policy is owned by USDD Networks (the legal entity operating Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy)) and reviewed at least annually, or sooner if legislation, statutory guidance or organisational structure changes. Reviewed annually · Last review: May 2026.
