Applicability:This policy applies to activities delivered by Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy), operated by USDD Networks.
Purpose
To set out how Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy) identifies, evaluates and controls hazards across the full range of our activities.
Types of Risk Assessment
- Standard Class — written generic assessment reviewed annually and posted in the studio file.
- Outdoor Session — session-specific dynamic assessment covering weather, surface, public access, safeguarding and access to toilets/water.
- Show / Performance — event-specific assessment including stage construction, lighting, audience flow, child performer welfare and chaperone provision.
- Battle / Competition — assessment covering crowd density, judge/competitor separation, sound levels, and de-escalation procedures.
- Trip / Off-site Activity — including transport, supervision ratios, contingency plans and ICE contact list.
Process
For each activity:
- Identify hazards.
- Identify who could be harmed and how.
- Evaluate the risk and decide on control measures.
- Record the assessment and brief the team.
- Review after each significant event or annually, whichever is sooner.
Dynamic Review
Leaders are trained and empowered to dynamically reassess and pause, adapt or cancel an activity if conditions change.
Review & Contact
This policy is owned by USDD Networks (the legal entity operating Up Side Down Dance Academy (USDD Academy)) and reviewed at least annually, or sooner if legislation, statutory guidance or organisational structure changes. Reviewed annually · Last review: May 2026.
